Become the Courageous, Transformational Leader Today’s Schools Need

Today’s diverse schools need leaders who are capable of leading transformational change that improves outcomes for each and every student. They also need leaders who understand that diversity and inclusion are about more than demographics—they’re about respecting and celebrating culture, identifying policies and practices that allow inequity to persist and taking anti-racist action.

Offered in partnership with Teachers 21 and the Organizational and Leadership Psychology Department, William James College offers a Graduate Certificate in School Leadership for Educational Equity, Racial Understanding, and Organizational Transformation designed to empower professionals like you for anti-racist leadership that promotes social justice and equity in your school.

Delivered in a convenient online format, this program fulfills requirements for principal licensure in Massachusetts. It is designed for current principals, aspiring principals, classroom teachers and other educational professionals who hold a bachelor’s degree or higher. You can complete your graduate certificate in as few as three semesters of study.

Program Features

  • Takes an evidence-based approach to promoting equity and creating psychologically safe environments for students and staff to perform their best
  • Teaches strategies for effective communication, managing change and engaging in anti-racist action
  • Small, diverse cohort groups allow you to develop meaningful relationships with faculty and peers
  • 500 hours of supervised hands-on practicum at a school site

The Graduate Certificate in School Leadership for Educational Equity, Racial Understanding, and Organizational Transformation blends online classes with 500 hours of supervised hands-on practicum at a school site. The program covers 18 credits of coursework.
