Earn a Counseling or Behavioral Health Degree

William James College has a program for you depending on which path you want to take for your career. Finish your bachelor’s degree, establish a foundation for your behavioral health career or pursue a licensure path and become a professional counselor.

Our degree programs in counseling and behavioral health offer you a combination of academic rigor and extensive field experience, all driven by a spirit of cultural sensitivity, inclusiveness and social justice.

Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Human Services Completion

If you have 45-60 transferable credits (or an associate’s degree) you can complete a bachelor’s degree designed to equip you for human services careers with William James College. You can also choose a minor in Addictions Counseling, Applied Behavior Analysis, or Behavioral Health. Learn more.

Format

  • Blended format: online classes plus in-person Saturday sessions
  • Includes supervised fieldwork in the final year
  • Time to completion: two years full-time, three years part-time
  • Major in Psychology and Human Services and choose a minor in Addictions Counseling, Applied Behavior Analysis, or Behavioral Health

Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling

Train for a career supporting people as they grow through personal challenges, work to establish healthier relationships, and seek self-understanding. Our program satisfies academic and fieldwork requirements for licensure as a mental health counselor (LMHC) in Massachusetts. Learn more.

Behavioral Health Service Corps

Interested in a behavioral health career, but not sure which occupation in the field is right for you? The Behavioral Health Service Corps program at William James College offers you the opportunity to spend a year exploring your possibilities as you serve, learn—and earn.

This one-year paid service program is designed to help future professionals like you learn more about what behavioral service professionals do, whom they serve, and the steps you can take to become one. In addition to career experience and mentorship from an active behavioral health professional, you can earn free credit toward a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Learn more.

  • In-person, one-year work experience with one of our partner service organizations
  • Service year begins in late July
